Impotence Drug Approved for Used To Treat Prostate

, Impotence and prostate disorders are two problems that many experienced men. Drug for impotence can now be used for prostate enlargement problems. Food and drug regulatory agency the United States (FDA) approved the use of the impotence drug Cialis for use as a treatment for prostate enlargement.
Problems or an enlarged prostate known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH ) is a disease that experienced by many elderly men. This disease often leads to urinary incontinence which increase the chances of urinary tract infections and kidney damage.
“Disorders of prostate enlargement can have a major impact on quality of life of patients,” said Scott Monroe, director of the division of reproductive and urologic products FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, as quoted from HealthDay , on Friday (07/10/2011).
Monroe said that most older people have symptoms of prostate enlargement and drugs Cialis can help overcome this problem, especially in men who also have erectile dysfunction.
The FDA said the approval was based on three studies that have been done. Two studies found that men taking Cialis dose of 5 mg per day experienced an improvement in the symptoms of prostate enlargement that arise compared with men who did not take cialis.
The third study involved men who suffer impotence and prostate enlargement also found that the 5 mg dose of Cialis a day can improve symptoms of both conditions.
However, not all men can take Cialis. The FDA warns that men who mengosumsi nitrates such as nitroglycerin should not take Cialis because the combination of two drugs can cause a decrease in blood pressure to unsafe and dangerous.
Also people taking heart drugs known as alpha blockers should also avoid Viagra because there have not studied the side effects of this drug when consumed together.
